Santa Ana known for its diverse culture is the county seat and second most populous city in Orange County, California. The United States Census Bureau estimated Santa Ana’s population in 2011 at 329,427; making Santa Ana the 57th most-populous city in the United States. Santa Ana covers more than 26 square miles and is divided into 4 policing districts: Westend, Southcoast, Northeast and Southeast.
The Santa Ana Police Department is a full service police department with a full operational jail staffed by civilian Correction Officers. Santa Ana Police Department is comprised of more than 300 officers and over 200 civilian employees. The department currently has 50 fully funded sworn officer vacancies and numerous civilian vacancies. The opportunity to join a police department where you will rapidly gain seniority has never been greater. We anticipate hiring at least 125 sworn officers over the next 3 years to fill current vacancies and anticipated retirements.
The Santa Ana Police Department handles approximately 11,000 calls for service each month and provides full service operations in various divisions such as: Patrol, Traffic, General Investigations, Special Investigations, Training and others.
In 1997, the Santa Ana Police Department opened the doors to its new police facility which has a shooting range, training center and full gym with plenty of available space to expand a growing Police Department. The police building has been affectionately nicknamed the “Taj Mahal” by officers from other departments attending training at the facility.
